Free Introductory Session
The relationship between client and counsellor is unique, and a fundamental part of the counselling process. It is essential that you trust and feel safe with your chosen counsellor. For that reason I offer a free, no obligation initial session, lasting between 30 – 45 minutes. This introductory session gives us the chance to meet and for you to decide if you would feel comfortable working with me and whether I am the ‘right’ counsellor for you. During this initial session I will ask you for a summary of your situation, brief family history, and any relevant medical information. We will discuss what has bought you to counselling and what you want to gain from it and I will answer any questions or concerns you may have. This introductory session is strictly confidential regardless of whether you subsequently decide to work with me or not, and I apply the same professional and ethical standards to this as to any of my client sessions.
How many sessions will I need?
Sessions are for one hour per week and I usually work with clients for a minimum of 6 weeks. People typically find that this is a useful number of sessions to commit to at first, with the option of more if they are needed. I have worked with some clients for 6 weeks, and some for over a year. Our length of time together will depend on what you want to resolve, and how willing you are to explore the thoughts and feelings you are facing. You will know when you feel ready to finish counselling, and I will recognise that too. When we have reached our ending, we will reflect on what has been learnt, recognise what has been achieved, and celebrate where you are at that point.
Day times- Monday and Tuesday
Evenings- Monday to Friday
I can occasionally arrange appointments at other times than these, so do please call me to discuss your needs.
How much does it cost?
Sessions are £35 per hour and places are available in Cheddar.
